Accessibility
We've attempted to make our site as accessible as possible, in line with
W3C recommendations and industry best practice.
The site is 'pure CSS' - no tables used for layout - so content and presentation
are separated. As such, the site degrades gracefully so that it can
be used easily even in text-based browsers like Lynx.
Hidden links are included so
that screen-readers can easily skip navigation. Access keys have
been assigned to all top level navigation (and under-scored in
the navigation bar in keeping with convention). All main page content
is also tab-indexed to
further aid 'mouse-less' surfing. And of course font sizes are
scaleable.
It has been tested in Internet Explorer 5.01, 5.5 and 6, Opera 9.02,
Firefox 1.5 and Netscape 8 on PC; and in Safari 2, Opera 7.54
and 9.02, Firefox 1.0 and 1.5 and Netscape 7.2 on Mac. And you
should find it's hanging together fine if your browser's a little
older than any of those.
You should also find that functionality is not impaired if
Javascript is disabled.
While no mobile specific stylesheets have yet been created, this is an
area we're currently working on. In the meantime, we'd suggest
using Opera in 'Single column' display if you do wish to access
the site via your mobile/PDA.
If you have any comments on, or problems with, accessibility, please email
webmaster@informatiq.co.uk.
